Paris and O’Conner coaching together again in WPSL!
Paris and O’Conner coaching together again in WPSL!
It’s now official; Executive Director of Everton FL, Tony Paris, will head up the Amazon’s of Clearwater Women’s team to play in the WPSL this summer. Paris will be assisted by Ged O’Connor who had worked with him as an assistant at Saint Leo University for 4 years, until Paris went overseas to coach professionally. O’Connor is currently the Head Coach at Saint Leo and one of the 4 Directors at EvertonFL. The partnership had proved very successful at Saint Leo, so Paris hopes for more of the same!
The 10 game schedule runs from May through mid July with trips all over the State with the last game being played in Puerto Rico.
Paris is optimistic that the team will be competitive; however the turn round time between his appointment and putting a new team together will be challenging in this inaugural year, but interest in the team has been good so he is optimistic.
The Franchise belongs to the Galactics of Clearwater who have had great national success on the Men’s side and now looking to repeat the same success on the Women’s side. When asked about the appointment Paris had said he is honored to have been asked by the Management of the Galactics to become its first ever Head Coach of the WPSL Team and approaches his position with great excitement and enthusiasm. What is the Florida Alliance Soccer League (FASL)?
Florida Alliance Soccer League (FASL)
There seems to be many questions being asked about this new exciting concept which is on its way to Tampa Bay! I have answered some of the more pertinent questions to give a better understanding as to what this means to our club. I have composed a list of frequently asked questions:
Q: What is FASL?
A: FASL is a new League which has been designed by Club Directors who have many years of experience in Youth soccer development. This League will cover the greater Tampa Bay area in the interim and look to incorporate other locations further afield as it grows.
Q: Who are the people running this League?
A: Many of these Directors have professional soccer backgrounds and know what it takes to form a winning product and develop players, including both playing and coaching in UEFA club competitions.
Q: Why do we need FASL?
