Raiders Parent / Coach Visits Colorado Rapids

Paddy Sweeney visits the Colorado Rapids

St. Pete Raiders DOC/CEO and Saint Leo University Men’s Head Soccer Coach Tony Paris and Paddy Sweeney have worked together for many years.  In 2015 the St. Pete Raiders Men’s Semi-Professional team, led by Tony and Paddy won the league championship. Through that season they built a lasting friendship. Paddy's son is currently on the St. Pete Raiders U12 Boys Red team which Paddy helps assist in his spare time.

Over the years, Paddy has worked with Anthony Hudson firstly in the USL Pro and then with the Bahrain National Team and the New Zealand National Team.  In November, Hudson took over the Colorado Rapids of Major League Soccer. Last week, Paddy was brought out to Colorado by Hudson in preparation for the Philadelphia Union game which the Rapids went on to win 3-0.  Paddy said of the trip, “It was amazing to be on the training field with the likes of US National team players - Tim Howard, Edgar Castillo and Marlon Hairston”. Paddy will be going out to Colorado again in the very near future, but he shared a couple pictures from his experience.

We at the Raiders are very proud of Paddy taking his talents to the MLS and we share in his excitemnt of this opportunity!
